The Tea Creek to Three Forks of Williams section of Williams River in Pocahontas/Webster County is 11 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. The wonderful West Virginia scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not
make it an overnighter, so pack your sleeping bag. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river
system, the Tea Creek to Three Forks of Williams stretch is one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: Hiking is a popular thing to do around Williams River; County Line Trail is a pleasant local trail, and the Big Beechy Trail offers hiking at its best. Through the summer months here at Williams River, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in
the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Williams River. Williams River sees pretty high levels of precipitation; all through July this area sees the most rain, and October meanwhile is the driest month.
