Pocahontas/Webster
county,
Three Forks of Williams to Gauley River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III 10 miles
The natural beauty of West Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the
night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The Three Forks of Williams to Gauley River section is
one of a few paddling sections in this river system. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camp stove.
Briefly about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the Snakeden Trail, and if you wish for a little side trip, try Hickman Hollow.
