Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: Near Williams River you hit upon the Lick Branch Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. There is a great hiking trail in the neighborhood of Williams River called the Snakeden Trail, and Hickman Hollow is another delightful site to check out nearby. Through the summer months, highs mostly are in the 80's at Williams River while nighttime lows are commonly in the 60's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's, and night
lows at Williams River during the winter typically descend into the 20's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Williams River a wet location; throughout July this area sees the most rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
