Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia are easier than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This section of Wolf Creek is 2.1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V+ section. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. There's camping available near Wolf Creek. The Reservoir to New River section is the only paddling section along Wolf Creek. This section is quite short so it's not like you're
gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The scenic beauty of West Virginia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves
reasons enough to come here to paddle.
Briefly about the general area: For the period of the warm days of summer at Wolf Creek highs are commonly in the 80's, and the nighttime is quite cooler of course, regularly in the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's, and night lows throughout the wintertime for Wolf Creek tend to be in the 20's. Wolf Creek commonly gets a good deal of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is July; February is the month with the least moisture.
