Wisconsin whitewater - Apple River, Polk County Polk county, Little Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II     4 miles   If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. This stretch of Apple River is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.     This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Little Falls section is one of them. The nature scenery of Wisconsin and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Apple River; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Apple River.
