The nature scenery of Ashland County and the water flowing gracefully down Bad River attract people from near and far. This section of Bad River in Wisconsin is 18.8 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Devil's Gate footbridge to Elm Hoist Road     stretch is just one of them. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. Whitewater paddling here in the Gogebic Range is a great experience. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There's camping available near Bad River. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: At Bad River through the days of summer highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and after   the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Bad River plunge into the 0's. Bad River gets a common amount of annual rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August, and February is when it's the driest.
