If you're coming from Wausau it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful scenery of Taylor/Lincoln County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad
you came. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section of Big Rib River in Wisconsin is 2.45 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a pretty
small number of paddling spots. The Highway 64 to Greiner Road stretch is the only paddling stretch along Big Rib River. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: From a rain point of view Big Rib River is a pretty common spot; the wettest month of the year is commonly September, that's the one that rains the most while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Throughout the warm days of summer
at Big Rib River highs are commonly in the 70's, and the overnight is rather cooler of course, generally in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 10's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Big Rib River drop into the-10's.
