This section of Black River in Douglas County is 4.8 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III(V+) section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because     it is a very popular destination. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. This is the only paddling stretch along Black River. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Big Manitou Falls is an inspiring site to explore during your stay, and if you're here, you might as well stop at Rocky Gorge. Black River is a good spot of normal rainfall; June is the wettest month with most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. For the duration of the summer months at Black River temperatures are usually in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 50's.
