  If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Wisconsin you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This section of Black River is 5.3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II(III) section. This
    is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. The beautiful scenery of Wisconsin and the water flowing gracefully down Black River attract people from near and far. The campgrounds here at Black River are pretty good. There are so many sections to paddle
in this river system, the Highway 73 to Greenwood Park section is just one of many.

Briefly about the general area:
Black River is a good place of normal rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August, and February on the other hand is the driest. For the period of the warm days of summer at Black River highs are ordinarily in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Black River temperatures drop to the 0's.
