Wisconsin whitewater - Black River, Jackson County Jackson county, Hatfield Dam to Power Plant section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III(IV)     3.2 miles   This stretch of Black River is 3.2 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III(IV) section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Wisconsin and the water flowing gracefully down Black River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not     from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Hatfield Dam to Power Plant stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Briefly about the general area: All through the warm days of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Black River while nighttime lows are regularly in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 10's with temperatures at Black River dipping down into the-10's all through winter nights. From a rain point of view Black   River is a quite normal place; September is when you get the most rain here, and February is the month with the least moisture.
