The nature scenery of Marathon County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Wisconsin tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are no other     stretches to paddle along Black Creek than the Athens City Park to Pioneer Road stretch. This is an extremely short section so better bring some good walking shoes. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This section of Black Creek in Marathon County is 1.4 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good rivers for that around here.
