If you're coming from Iron Mountain it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The wonderful Wisconsin scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to
come here and paddle. This section of Brule River is 3.4 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you
coming back for more. The Brule River Dam to Ryneers Road stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
Briefly about the general area: Through the summertime highs here at Brule River reach the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's while Brule
