The natural beauty of Chippewa County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This is a very short stretch so no need to bring snacks. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd     better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch of Chippewa River in Chippewa County is 0.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. There's camping available near Chippewa River. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Jim Falls section is one of them. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Eau Claire, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while       will make you glad you came. Briefly about the general area: You'll meet a lot of folks from Jim Falls here; places like Lake Wissota State Park are great to take a look at. Near Chippewa River you come across   the Deer Fly Trail which is a glorious hiking trail; Old Abe State Trail is a glorious place to have a look at. This is a really good river. There is a good hiking trail close to Chippewa River called the Hay Meadow Trail. Through the summertime months, highs commonly are in the 80's at Chippewa River with overnight lows in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Chippewa River.
