The beautiful scenery of Chippewa County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch of Chippewa River is 0.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The average Wisconsin whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here
are less demanding. This is a very short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Eau Claire, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whether you're whitewater rafting
or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Jim Falls section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.

Chippewa River gets a typical amount of yearly precipitation; the wettest month of the year is regularly August, that's the one that rains the most while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Throughout the summer months at Chippewa
River temperatures are mostly in the 80's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Chippewa River.
