The starting location is a short drive from Merrill, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch of Eau Claire River in Marathon County is 2.8 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.     You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The nature scenery of Marathon County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more.
