The 1000 Islands section of Fox River is 1.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III(IV) section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Wisconsin is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there     are not so many other good places for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are no other stretches to paddle along Fox River than the 1000 Islands stretch. The put-in location is a short drive from Appleton, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year at Fox River arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
