Great river to kayak if there is water in it. Best to do after the snow melts in april through early may. Don't waste your time any other time of the year unless there has been a lot of rain. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The average Wisconsin whitewater rafting     or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beautiful scenery of Jackson County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The Trow Lake Dam to Black River section is the only paddling section along Halls Creek. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. Briefly about the general area: Halls Creek gets a common amount of annual rainfall; through the month of September you get the most rain   around here, and February on the other hand is the driest. For the period of the warm days of summer at Halls Creek temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 10's while Halls Creek night low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the-10's.
