Great river to kayak if there is water in it. Best to do after the snow melts in april through early may. Don't waste your time any other time of the year unless there has been a lot of rain. The Trow Lake Dam to Black River stretch of Halls Creek is 9.7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater.     A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Halls Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Trow Lake Dam to Black River stretch is the only one. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the warm months highs here at Halls Creek get   into the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 10's, and nighttime lows in the-10's for Halls Creek.
