The Government Road to Bad River section of Marengo River in Wisconsin is 4.8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Gogebic Range is a great experience. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. You might     have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beautiful scenery of Wisconsin and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Government Road to Bad River section is one of them. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: Marengo River is a good site of typical rainfall; August is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is February. Through the summer months at Marengo River highs are usually in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows   fall down to the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Marengo River temperatures descend to the 0's.
