The scenic beauty of Ozaukee County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The Bridge Street to Falls Road Ledge stretch of Milwaukee River in Wisconsin is 2.7 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. No need to look hard for hotels,
but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is a pretty short section so you'll have
to walk back to the start over and over. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Bridge Street to Falls Road Ledge stretch is one of them. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people.
Briefly about the general area: At Milwaukee River through the summertime months highs are in the 80's; the overnight is slightly cooler of course, ordinarily in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Milwaukee River are in the 0's. Milwaukee
River is a good place of normal rain; through September this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
