Wisconsin whitewater - Milwaukee River, Ozaukee County
Ozaukee
county,
Bridge Street to Falls Road Ledge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-II 2.7 miles
The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Wisconsin are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The Bridge Street to Falls Road Ledge stretch of Milwaukee River is 2.7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The beautiful scenery
of Ozaukee County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis, as you can see on the road map further down. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here.
