The put-in is not too far from Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis, as you can see on the road map further down. The Hampton Ave.Dam to North Ave.Dam stretch of Milwaukee River is 3.4 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in     one stretch. The nature scenery of Milwaukee County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The campgrounds here at Milwaukee River are pretty good. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here.
