  The scenic beauty of Lincoln County and the water flowing gracefully down New Wood River attract people from near and far. The starting location is a short drive from Merrill, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This section of New Wood River in Lincoln County is 4.1 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section
    by American Whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better
reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. The to Tesch Road section is the only paddling section along New Wood River.
