Wisconsin whitewater - Peshtigo River, Forest County Forest county, FS 2131 to FS 2134 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     8.9 miles   This stretch of Peshtigo River in Wisconsin is 8.9 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The average Wisconsin whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The campgrounds here at Peshtigo River are pretty good. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning     trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The wonderful Wisconsin scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Peshtigo River throughout the warm days of summer are in the 70's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Peshtigo River dipping down into the-10's during winter nights. A normal amount of rainfall   falls here at Peshtigo River; the month with most of the rain is September, and the driest of the months is February. Hiking along the Dendro Eco Trail is good fun.
