The starting location is a reasonable drive from Iron Mountain, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Wisconsin tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. This stretch of Peshtigo River is 2.7 miles long     and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II+(IV) section. This is a somewhat short section so better bring some good walking shoes. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Benson Lake Road to Goodman Park stretch is just one of many. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: Peshtigo River gets a common amount of annual precipitation; the wettest month of the year is generally September, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is February.   The peaks of the Taylor Rapids dominate the scenery of this area, and Strong Falls is a fine local attraction. During the summertime months, highs generally are in the 70's at Peshtigo River. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 20's, and nighttime lows all through the wintertime for Peshtigo River tend to be in the-10's.
