If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The Center Rd stretch of Pine River is 2.2 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The Center Rd stretch is the only paddling stretch along Pine River. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available     very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The put-in location is a short drive from Merrill, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: An average amount of precipitation falls at Pine River; September is when you get the most rain here while February is frequently the driest month. Pine Dells is something you shouldn't miss if you're here at Pine River. For the period of the summertime highs here at Pine River get into the 80's with night lows in the 50's.
