The natural beauty of Iron County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The Gogebic Range scenery is wonderful. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a
bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The
Upson Falls to Foster Falls stretch of Potato River is 6.1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III(IV) section. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come.

while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. For the duration of the warmest time of the year highs here at Potato River get into the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are regularly in the 20's with temperatures at Potato River dipping down into the 0's through winter nights.
