The scenic beauty of Iron County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Foster Falls to Highway 169 stretch is one of them. This section of Potato River in Wisconsin is 7.2 miles long and is a class I-IV     section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. The Gogebic Range scenery is wonderful. The campgrounds here at Potato River are pretty good. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Gotta ski!
