The beautiful scenery of Wisconsin and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The Partridge Lane to Harper Road stretch of Rat River in Wisconsin is 3.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III(IV) section of whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Not too     many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a bit of a short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you're coming from Iron Mountain it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Briefly about the general area: During the long summer days at Rat River temperatures are mostly in the 70's. All through the moonlight hours it's typically in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's   overnight here at Rat River. Rat River gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; all through September this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February.
