Wisconsin whitewater - Red Cedar River, Dunn County Dunn county, Menomonie to Irvington section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     3.9 miles   The Menomonie to Irvington stretch of Red Cedar River in Wisconsin is 3.9 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The Menomonie to Irvington section is the only paddling section along Red Cedar River. The campgrounds here at Red Cedar River are pretty good. There are some good hotels near the river, but     you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The starting location is a short drive from Menomonie, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other spots. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. The wonderful Wisconsin scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Red Cedar River beats anything. Briefly about the general area: For the period of the warm months, highs frequently are in the 80's at Red Cedar River; the overnight is fairly chillier of course, mostly in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 20's, and during the dark   hours in the winter at Red Cedar River temperatures plunge to the-10's. People from Menomonie love to come to Red Cedar River. Red Cedar River gets a normal amount of annual precipitation; the month with most of the rain is June, and February is the month with the least moisture.
