Wisconsin whitewater - Red Cedar River, Dunn County Dunn county, Menomonie to Irvington section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     3.9 miles   The Menomonie to Irvington section of Red Cedar River in Wisconsin is 3.9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The average Wisconsin whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The nature scenery of Wisconsin and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This is the only paddling section along Red Cedar River. There are some good hotels near the river, but     you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Red Cedar River are pretty good. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Menomonie, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: During the warmest time of the year here at Red Cedar River, high temperatures frequently get into the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. Highs during the winter are commonly in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Red Cedar River. The amount of precipitation that falls at Red Cedar River is close to the national   average; June is the wettest month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest.
