Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large     number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The Gasser Road section is the only paddling section along Skillet Creek. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This stretch of Skillet Creek in Sauk County is 1.8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. Briefly about the general area: For the period of the warm days of summer, highs typically are in the 80's at Skillet Creek while nighttime lows are commonly in the 50's. Through the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Skillet Creek. Skillet Creek sits in the shade of the South Range; don't leave   Skillet Creek without first going for a hike along the Bluff Trail. A river like this is too good to miss. A short journey to Skillet Falls is always worthwhile, and there's tremendous hiking along the West Bluff Trail. A normal amount of rain falls here at Skillet Creek; September is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is January.
