This stretch of Turtle River in Iron County is 16.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I(III) section. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are no other sections to paddle along Turtle River than the Shea Dam to     Turtle/Flambeau Flowage section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. When you're paddling down a Gogebic Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The wonderful Wisconsin scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Summertime at Turtle River   arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's.
