Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Wisconsin is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The nature scenery of Wisconsin and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.     There are no other sections to paddle along Turtle River than the Shea Dam to Turtle/Flambeau Flowage section. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. The Gogebic Range scenery is wonderful. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: All through the summer at Turtle River temperatures are usually in the 70's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Highs through the wintertime   are generally in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Turtle River are in the-10's. Turtle River is a good place of normal rain; June is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is February.
