Shopiere section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I 4.7 miles
I live on Turtle Creek and my husband and I are planning a overnight canoe trip for next weekend. Should be a blast with all this rain! Says Adrianne
The starting location is a short drive from Janesville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Rock County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Turtle Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Shopiere stretch is the only one. Whitewater
rafting and kayaking in Wisconsin is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations
in advance you're all set. This section of Turtle Creek is 4.7 miles long and is a class I section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
