If you're coming from Merrill it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The winter brings highs down to the 10's, and winter nights come with lows   in the-10's to Wisconsin River. It's always magnificent to stop at Grandfather Falls, and do put some time aside to spend at Posey Rapids if you're here at Wisconsin River.
