CLASS II-III 6.4 miles
Some friends and I went Kayaking on the Yellow River on April 19th, 08 and were suprised at the stage of rapids that we paddled. The water is fast, deep and unforgiving. Be careful!!! Make sure you wear helmets, take tow ropes and be prepared to get wet!!! Says Tammy
This stretch of Yellow River in Wood County is 6.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The average Wisconsin whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so better not forget
that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The scenic beauty of Wisconsin and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. You can pitch a tent or park your
RV at a nearby campground. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The starting location is a short drive from Wisconsin Rapids-Marshfield, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Little Bull Falls stretch
is the only paddling stretch along Yellow River.
