Wyoming whitewater, Bluegrass Creek

Albany Platte county, Tunnel outlet to Highway 34 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-V+     20 miles
The Tunnel outlet to Highway 34 stretch of Bluegrass Creek is 20 miles long and it is classified as a class II-V+ section by American Whitewater. The average Wyoming whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The Tunnel outlet to Highway 34 stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The
scenic beauty of Albany / Platte County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both,
doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other spots. The starting point is not too far from Laramie, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. The river winds through the Laramie Mountains and you get great scenery. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better
reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here.
