  If you're coming from Sheridan it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Wyoming is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. No shortage of good hotels, and if
    you make reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or
kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The 2 miles above to 1/2 mile below Buffalo stretch of Clear Creek in Johnson County is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.

You'll meet
 
a lot of folks from Buffalo here; nearby you locate Dump Draw which is a magnificent spot to check out. For the period of the summer months at Clear Creek highs are generally in the 80's while overnight lows are frequently in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Clear Creek fall into the 0's. Clear Creek gets very little rainfall. The month with most of the rain is May, and the driest month is February.
