This stretch of Crandall Creek in Wyoming is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a
bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The scenic beauty of Wyoming and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There aren’t any hotels right nearby
but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wild scenery of the Absaroka Range is great. There are no other stretches to paddle along Crandall Creek than the Trailhead to Clarks Fork Yellowstone Rail Road stretch.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Crandall Creek commonly tend to be in the 70's while nighttime lows are regularly in the 30's. All through the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 20's; after the sun is down throughout
the wintertime temperatures at Crandall Creek descend into the 0's. Just can't get enough of the Absaroka Range. Take a hike on the Lodgepole Trail. Near Crandall Creek you discover good sites like Oliver Gulch, and Crandall Creek is right by the Crandall Cutoff Trail. From
a precipitation point of view Crandall Creek is a relatively normal location; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain, and October is when it's the driest.
