The Trailhead to Clarks Fork Yellowstone Rail Road stretch of Crandall Creek in Park County is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Wyoming is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother
nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. When you're paddling down a Absaroka Range river like this
one you always get great scenery along the way too. The Trailhead to Clarks Fork Yellowstone Rail Road stretch is the only paddling stretch along Crandall Creek. The beautiful scenery of Park County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: Crandall Creek gets a normal amount of rainfall; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is October. On a great
day at Crandall Creek you can take a hike along the Crandall Cutoff Trail, and a brilliant place to visit close by is Oliver Gulch. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Absaroka Range, not enough time. There is a perfect hiking trail near Crandall Creek called the Lodgepole
Trail. Summer at Crandall Creek comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Summer night lows dip down to the 30's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Crandall Creek descend into the 0's.
