The wonderful Wyoming scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Deer Creek attract people from near and far. The average Wyoming whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater
rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good places for that around here. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Lower Canyon section
of Deer Creek in Wyoming is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V+ section of whitewater. Whitewater paddling here in the Laramie Mountains is a great experience. The Lower Canyon section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.
Briefly about the general area: So much amusing stuff in the Laramie Mountains, just extraordinary. Not much precipitation falls here at Deer Creek; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is January. Lower Deer Creek Canyon is close
to Deer Creek and is a great place, and Phillips Spring is an inspiring spot to go to while here. Through the long summer days at Deer Creek highs are commonly in the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's with temperatures at Deer Creek dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights.
