The R77W to Forest Service boundary section of Deer Creek in Converse County is 11 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-V section. The natural beauty of Wyoming and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Wyoming tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable
for beginners. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. When you're paddling down a Laramie Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. If you
hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other spots for that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people.
