Actually, the river is in the Gros Ventre range(pronounced Grow Vont). There is probably closer to 8 miles of boating for kayakers, or rafts at higher spring flows. The best section being below the confluence of Little Granite Creek. Says HCC
This stretch of Granite Creek in Teton Sublette County is 3 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Whitewater paddling here in the Wind River Range is a great experience.
You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are no other sections to paddle along Granite Creek than the Wooden Bridge to mouth section. Whitewater
rafting and kayaking in Wyoming is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The nature scenery of Wyoming and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
