Wyoming whitewater - Granite Creek, Wind River Range, Teton Sublette County
Teton Sublette
county,
Wooden Bridge to mouth section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III 3 miles
Actually, the river is in the Gros Ventre range(pronounced Grow Vont). There is probably closer to 8 miles of boating for kayakers, or rafts at higher spring flows. The best section being below the confluence of Little Granite Creek. Says HCC
The Wooden Bridge to mouth section of Granite Creek is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. The average Wyoming whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here
are not easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a
pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The beautiful Wind River Range scenery is an added bonus. The scenic beauty of Teton Sublette County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Granite Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Wooden Bridge to mouth section is the only one.
