Wyoming whitewater - Green River, Wind River Range, Sublette County
Sublette
county,
Green River Lakes to Tepee Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III 12 miles
This section of Green River in Wyoming is 12 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The wild scenery of the Wind River Range is great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Wyoming tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. There are no other sections to paddle along Green River than the Green River Lakes to Tepee Creek section. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have
you coming back for more. The nature scenery of Sublette County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good places for
that around here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag.
Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the warm days of summer at Green River highs are generally in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 30's. High temperatures through
the winter are normally in the 20's with temperatures at Green River dipping down into the-10's throughout winter nights. Now, you may think that's a heap but there's even more cool things to do here in the Wind River Range. Have a glorious hiking adventure along the South
Gypsum Trail, and going for a hike along the Lakeside Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. Green River is usually a reasonably dehydrated place; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow, and July on the other hand is the driest.
