CLASS II-III     12 miles
  This section of Green River is 12 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. The wonderful Wyoming scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. The put-in location is a short drive from Jackson, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking,
    either way this is an area with not too many other spots for that. The Wind River Range scenery is wonderful. There's camping available near Green River. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your
camping stuff. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Green River Lakes to Tepee Creek section is one of them. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a  
bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving.

Briefly about the general area:
There are magnificent sites to look at along the South Gypsum Trail, and don't leave Green River without first going for a hike along the Lakeside Trail. You definitely must adore the Wind River Range. Green River is frequently a pretty dried out place. January is the month that gets the most snow, and July meanwhile is the driest month. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Green River with nighttime lows in the 30's.
