The Venus Creek to Forest Service boundary section of Greybull River is 6 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Greybull River are pretty good. Greybull River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Venus Creek to Forest Service boundary section is the only one. The beautiful Absaroka Range scenery is an added bonus. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Wyoming are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget
that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking
or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wonderful Park County scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here.
Briefly about the general area: At Greybull River throughout the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours
in the winter at Greybull River temperatures drop to the 10's. If you want a tremendous time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Absaroka Range. At Greybull River you don’t see much rainfall; May is the wettest month with most rain while January is frequently the driest month. Go for a hike on the Zig-Zag Trail; tremendous hiking is available along the Haymaker Timber Creek Trail.
