The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Wyoming are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This section of Greybull River in Park County is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and just being
out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The wonderful Wyoming scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. The river winds through the Absaroka
Range and you get great scenery. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other spots for that. The Venus Creek to Forest Service boundary stretch is the only paddling stretch along Greybull River.
Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 80's to Greybull River. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Greybull River
temperatures plunge to the 10's. It is very arid here at Greybull River generally; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest. While you're here at Greybull River you can take a hike along the Zig-Zag Trail, and on a perfect day you can take a hike along the Haymaker Timber Creek Trail.
