  The Venus Creek to Forest Service boundary stretch of Greybull River in Park County is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Riverton, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that many of the sections here are
    not safe for beginners. The natural beauty of Wyoming and the playfulness of the water beats anything. Whitewater paddling here in the Absaroka Range is a great experience. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great
campgrounds nearby. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Venus Creek to Forest Service boundary stretch is one of them. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance  
because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more.

Briefly about the general area:
Good hiking is available along the Zig-Zag Trail, and there's wonderful hiking along the Haymaker Timber Creek Trail. Man, is there a load of amusing stuff to do in the Absaroka Range. It is very waterless here at Greybull River frequently. The wettest month of the year is frequently May, that's the one that rains the most; the driest of the months is January. Summertime highs at Greybull River regularly tend to be in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's.
