The Lower Slide Lake to Kelly stretch of Gros Ventre River in Wyoming is 5 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The     beautiful scenery of Wyoming and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Gros Ventre River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Lower Slide Lake to Kelly stretch is the only one. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Wind River Range scenery is wonderful. The campgrounds here at Gros Ventre River are pretty good. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. The starting point is not too far from Jackson, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Briefly about the general area: Not much rain falls here at Gros Ventre River; January is when you get the most snow here, and July is the month with the least moisture. Through the summertime months highs here at Gros Ventre River reach the   70's while night lows are generally in the 40's.
