  The natural beauty of Albany Platte County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The Tunnel Road to Palmer Canyon Road section of Laramie River in Wyoming is 16 miles long and is a class
    II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're
willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wild scenery of the Laramie Mountains is great. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. The put-in location is a short drive from Laramie, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you wonít get lost. You can enjoy this stretch  
more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. There's camping available near Laramie River. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Tunnel Road to Palmer Canyon Road section is one of them.

Briefly about the general area:
White Hound Canyon is a nice site to visit near Laramie River. During the warmest time of the year at Laramie River highs are ordinarily in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Laramie River temperatures descend to the 10's.
