This stretch of Laramie River is 16 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Wyoming are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The beauty of the Laramie Mountains is a great plus for this river. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors
will have you coming back for more. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The scenic beauty of Wyoming
and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
Briefly about the general area: Laramie River gets very little precipitation; May is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. White Hound Canyon is near Laramie River and is unquestionably a fine spot to check out. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's
to Laramie River; the nighttime is a bit chillier of course, regularly in the 40's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Laramie River temperatures plunge to the 10's.
