Wyoming whitewater - Laramie River, Albany County Albany county, Wheatland No. 3 Reservoir to Tunnel Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-III     17 miles   This stretch of Laramie River is 17 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Wheatland No. 3 Reservoir to Tunnel Road stretch is one of them. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either     way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. The natural beauty of Albany County and the water flowing gracefully down Laramie River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Throughout the warm months here at Laramie River, high temperatures commonly get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 40's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Laramie River are in the 10's.
