The Highway 181 bridge to Sinks Cavern section of Middle Popo Agie River in Wyoming is 5.6 miles long and is a class III-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Riverton, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking     outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Middle Popo Agie River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Highway 181 bridge to Sinks Cavern section is the only one. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. The beautiful Wind River Range scenery is an added bonus. Briefly about the general area: It is very arid here at Middle Popo Agie River regularly; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and January is when it's the driest. The Wolf Trail is a good hiking trail close to Middle Popo Agie River,   and Deer Spring is an inspiring location to pop by while you're here. This river is so wonderful. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors fun stuff the Wind River Range has to offer. There is a great hiking trail in the vicinity of Middle Popo Agie River called the Indian Trail, and if you want a little side visit, try Sinks Canyon. Summer at Middle Popo Agie River comes with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Middle Popo Agie River.
