If you're coming from Rock Springs it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The scenic beauty of Wyoming and the water flowing gracefully down Pole Creek are in themselves reasons enough to |
come here to paddle. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Half Moon Lake to
| right off of Fayette Pole Creek Road section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors | |
|
will have you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Pole Creek without first going for a hike along the Half Moon Trail. A day on the slopes of White Pine is just what you need, and
if you're going to from Boulder, you won't be the only one. Coming to this river is always a good idea. There's great hiking along the Fayette Cutoff Trail. At Pole Creek you don’t see much rainfall. Most of the rain falls
through May, and the driest month of the year is February. At Pole Creek during the days of summer highs are in the 70's. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 40's.
