  This stretch of Shoshone River - North Fork is 40 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Park County and the water flowing gracefully down Shoshone River - North Fork are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Billings, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time
    in nature are great reasons to come. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Wyoming are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections
here are not safe for beginners. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. The Pahaska Tepee to Buffalo Bill Reservoir stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The beauty of the Absaroka Range  
is a great plus for this river. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

Going for a hike along the Blackwater Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. While you're here at Shoshone River - North Fork you can take a hike along the Fire Memorial Trail. Summertime highs at Shoshone River - North Fork typically tend to be in the 70's with night lows in the 30's.
