The nature scenery of Park County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river
if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beautiful Absaroka Range scenery is an added bonus. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other
paddling spots. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. This stretch of Shoshone River - South Fork is 13 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the East Fork Creek to Trailhead section is one of them.
