The South Park Bridge to Astoria Bridge section of Snake River in Teton County is 9 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Wyoming is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The beautiful scenery of Teton County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good
non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The put-in is not too far from Jackson, as you can see on the road map further down. This is one of a small number of paddling
stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good spots for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: A perfect location to take a look at near Snake River is Bohnetts Canyon. Summertime highs at Snake River frequently tend to be in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's while Snake River night low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 0's. It is very dried up here at Snake River ordinarily; May is when you get the most rain here; the driest month of the year is August.
