The South Park Bridge to Astoria Bridge stretch of Snake River in Teton County is 9 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Jackson, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Teton County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Snake River have people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether
you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good spots for that around here. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature
have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Wyoming tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The South Park Bridge to Astoria Bridge stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system.
Briefly about the general area: While staying at Snake River you could always look at Bohnetts Canyon. At Snake River during the summer highs are in the 70's. Summer night lows sink down to the 40's. High temperatures
during the winter are normally in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Snake River temperatures plunge to the 0's. Snake River is pretty waterless typically; May is the month that gets the most rain while August is mostly the driest month.
