This section of Snake River in Wyoming is 30 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Teton Lincoln County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. If you're coming from Jackson it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page
with more info on that. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The average Wyoming whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that
a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the West Table Dock to Sheep Gulch section is one of them. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance
because these hotels fill up quick.
Briefly about the general area: Nearby Open Canyon is a great spot to go if you're at Snake River. For the duration of the summertime months highs here at Snake River get into the 70's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 40's.
Highs through the wintertime are frequently in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Snake River are in the 0's. Snake River is pretty waterless ordinarily; the month with most of the rain is May while August is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
