The starting location is a short drive from Jackson, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. The nature scenery of Teton County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Snake River in Teton County is 3 miles
long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There are no other sections to paddle along Snake River than the Yellowstone Natl Park Entrance to Flagg Ranch section. Getting a good workout and just
being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. The wild scenery of the Teton Range is great.
Briefly about the general area: The amount of precipitation that falls at Snake River is close to the national average; January is the month that gets the most snow, and July on the other hand is the driest.
Having a wonderful time in the Teton Range is painless. Going for a hike on the Sheffield Creek Trail is always a splendid adventure, and a short journey to Huckleberry Hot Springs is always worthwhile. This river has so much to offer. There are great sites to look at along
the South Boundary Trail. High temperatures at Snake River during the days of summer are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Snake River. A great
place in close proximity to Snake River is Lewis Canyon, and a trip to Snake River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Huckleberry Hot Springs.
