The put-in is not too far from Jackson, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Teton County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The campgrounds here at Snake River are pretty good. This stretch of Snake River in Wyoming is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance
you're all set. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Wyoming is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This is the
only paddling section along Snake River. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes. When you're paddling down a Teton Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.
Briefly about the general area: All year is a good time in the Teton Range if you like the outdoors. Huckleberry Hot Springs is a gorgeous place to go to while you're at Snake River, and there is a good
hiking trail close by called the South Boundary Trail. This is such a great river. A delightful site right next door to Snake River is Lewis Canyon. Huckleberry Hot Springs is a fine local attraction, and the Sheffield Creek Trail is a good hiking trail nearby. All through
the warm months here at Snake River, high temperatures frequently get into the 70's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Snake River. An average amount of precipitation falls at Snake River; January is the wettest month with most snow, and July on the other hand is the driest.
