  The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Wyoming are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The campgrounds here at Sweetwater River are pretty good. The From Granite Creek section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots.
    The starting location is a short drive from Riverton, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have
people coming from far and near. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon.

Briefly about the general area:
A short tour to Olson Spring is always worthwhile; a visit to Sweetwater River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Lower Mormon Spring. Sweetwater River is pretty dehydrated frequently.
 
The month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest. The warmest time of the year at Sweetwater River comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. Highs through the winter are generally in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Sweetwater River.
